Today’s post comes from the Dubber. It’s about Dune. Mainly the soundtrack. Enjoy!
Dune (1984)
Well I was looking at On Demand last night and was browsing through the Encore section, when I stumbled upon the original Dune. Well I love this movie (even though it’s horribly inaccurate compared to the book) so I press play and settle back to a nice 3 hour geek-a-thon. The beginning credits start to roll and the anticipation mounts. The second credit flashes on the screen. All music performed by…
TOTO. My jaw dropped. I never knew that. I was like, “WTF??? Toto did all the music for this film??” So I was very distracted for the rest of the movie, still dumbfounded by the fact that all the music I was hearing was done by Toto. I kept waiting for Paul Mu’adib to turn to Chauni (Sean Young, who was HOT by the way; then I remembered the whole “Einhorn is a man” thing from Ace Ventura and decided to not pursue that line of thought any more.) Anyway I was waiting for him to turn to her and say “Gonna take a lot to drag me away from you. There’s nothing that a hundred men or more could ever do. I bless the rains down in Aarakeen. Gonna take some time to do the things we never had.”
