Stand By Me

Wil Wheaton, River Phoenix, Corey Feldman, Jerry O’Connell

Sometimes you watch a movie from when you were a kid and you remember how awesome it was. And you wonder, how it is that you forgot that this movie was awesome.

This is one of those movies.

It really is a great movie. And you always forget how many people were involved. Granted some of them (Feldman, Phoenix, O’Connell) never really made it big. Some (Wheaton) did a few other notable things, then faded into obscurity. And some have done fairly well (Sutherland, Cusack).

And there really is no more disturbing image for a young man than the scene where Wil Wheaton finds the leech stuck to his…um….special place. Very disturbing (even worse if you read the novella “The Body”, which this was based on).
